Paul McCartney The Beatles Break Up
December 31 1970

> A Rumor alleging that Beatles member Paul McCartney secretly died and was replaced by a look-alike.

'There were numerous causes for the Beatles' break-up. It was not a single event but a long transition, including the cessation of touring in 1966, and the death of their manager, Brian Epstein, in 1967, meaning the beatles were personally involved in financial and legal conflicts.

Conflicts arose from differences between each member's artistic vision. Both George harrisson and Ringo Starr temporarily 'left' the group at various points during 1968-1969 and all four band members had begun working on solo projects by 1970 as the appeal of working together as a group began to wane. Ultimately, animosity made it impossible for the group to continue working together and Paul McCartney made the break-up public knowledge as part of the press release for his first solo album, 'McCartney'.' More about the Beatles break-up

'The beatles also fought over their new business manager Allen klein. John introduces the Beatles to Allen Klein in early 1969, and George and Ringo take a liking to him. Paul does not. He would prefer that Linda's lawyer father and brother handle their finances. In May, paul refuses to sign an official business contract with Allen Klein. the other three sign the contract.

In september, Abbey Road is released and John officially announces to the rest of the Beatles that he is calling it quits. He does not publicly announce it, however, because business and contract negociations were still in the works.

In April 1970, Paul's first solo album was released. Several days later he publicly announces that he had left the Beatles. Less than a month later the 'Let it Be' album and movie are released.

The other Beatles did not publicly confirm the break-up until December 31, 1970, when Paul filed a lawsuit against John, George and Ringo in order to dissolve the beatles. By then the Beatles had not recorded together in more than a year. they continued to go their separate ways.

Three years later, John, george and Ringo split with Allen Klein and sued him.' Beatlesnumber 9
